The Arthur Murray Approach
There are numerous dance studio in the area around Del Mar and Del Mar Heights. But we firmly believe that we are the best studio for you. Why is that? Because only we can offer you the Arthur Murray approach.
Most dance studios are great at teaching dance. With them, you can learn the steps in time with the music, and you will be able to use them whenever you hear the right music playing. But unless a dance studio also works to develop the dancer, the result tends to be robotic, just memorization of movements and beats. Ultimately, while the dance and the dancer are connected, they are also distinct.
We teach the steps, the arm movements, how to hear and hit the beats, but we also go beyond that. We work to build your confidence, help you enjoy being in the moment, and teach you how to really connect with the dance. Think about it: why dance if you cannot find joy in the process?
And we can help you become a better dance because we offer tailored instruction. Even in group classes, our instructors ensure you get the exact lesson you need each and every time. How can we do that?
By offering a comprehensive selection of classes. Each style we teach is taught at four different levels, so you can take classes that challenge you without becoming overwhelming. Your ideal class is waiting for you.
The Dance Styles We Teach
Here at our Solana Beach dance studio, it isn’t our mission to teach every style of dance. Instead, we believe in sticking to a few styles and becoming experts at them. As a result, when it comes to what we do, we are the very best. Below are the dance styles we teach our Del Mar and Del Mar Heights dance students.
Everyone knows what Ballroom Dances look like. From Golden Age films to Disney cartoons, these dances are part of our popular culture. When dancing these dances, you feel elegant, sophisticated, charming. They work in most any setting and are a great way to start learning how to dance. Among these dances we teach are the Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and the Quickstep.
Full of fire and passion—and also making for a great workout—these dances are incredibly fun to learn. And we love to teach them. Now, if you feel intimidated by the professionals you see on TV, don’t worry; we work to make sure you build up to the harder elements. Included amongst the Latin Dances we teach are the Bolero, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Merengue, and Salsa.
Country and Western Dances
Come in your best western gear or just in jeans and a t-shirt, because Country and Western Dances are for everyone. These simple, yet elegant, dances are ideal in most any setting. Dance them at the local dive bar or at your next gala—you will fit right in no matter what. Focus on smooth scooting and gliding, you will be impressed by fun, versatile, and simple these dances can be. With Arthur Murray, you can learn the Country Western Waltz, Texas Two-Step, Country Shuffle, Country Swing, West Coast Swing, the Progressive Two-Step, and the Country Triple.
Sometimes, we come across incredible dances that fit with our goals, but don’t quite fit a specific style. We call these dances Specialty Dances. They are fun and unique, fusing elements from various styles. Among the specialty dances we teach are the Nightclub Two-Step, Bachata, the Argentine Tango, and the Zouk.
