Arthur Murray’s Oceanside studio has earned a reputation for helping professional dancers improve and wow both judges and crowds alike. However, our studio is not just for professionals. We take great pride in our individualized approach as it allows us to help all dancers improve, whether they are seasoned dancers or have never stepped foot on the dance floor in their lives. Whatever your skill level, whatever your interests, Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Oceanside is here to help!
The Arthur Murray Approach
What are the key elements a dance instructor must focus on to help students become confident dancers? There are many things, from basic steps to showmanship, but the one thing many tend to forget about is the dancer. This is half the story, and as a quality studio, we never overlook it.
How is the dancer separate from dance? They aren’t, but teaching dance and nurturing a dancer requires different approaches. We teach steps and build confidence, which we can do because we offer a comprehensive selection of classes.
In each dance style we teach, we offer four different class levels: beginner, bronze, silver, and gold. We are also able to create a custom program based on your level and what you want to learn. The perfect class for you is waiting at our Oceanside dance studio.
Dance Styles We Teach
If Camp Pendleton is your home, then turn to our team to get you moving your body in time with the music. You can choose the dance style you like best, or talk to us about your interests or upcoming event so we can pick the style most suited to you. We will ensure that you take the right class for your needs. Below are the dance styles we currently teach at our Oceanside dance studio.
The elegant nature of ballroom dancing depicted by the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema is what makes it most appealing. At Arthur Murray Dance Studio, we teach all the classic dances that you love, from the Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz and the Quickstep. Be the star of the dance floor at our ballroom dancing events and glide across the floor.
Start your first ballroom dance lesson and learn how to dance these classic standard and smooth styles of dancing.
Are you looking for a style of dance that will let you set the dance floor on fire while also getting in shape? Then you should try Latin Dance. These dances are sensual and very active, making them ideal for a fun exercise routine. And while it is big in the world of competitive dance, you do not need to be a competitive dancer to study it. Included amongst the Latin Dances we teach are the Bolero, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Merengue, and Salsa.
Country and Western Dances
All dance styles are great for letting loose and having fun, but we have to admit that Country and Western dances are some of the most social dances you can enjoy. These dances work everywhere, from bars to ballrooms. And they are very natural, making them easy to learn and easy to dance with friends. And while the name might make you think of 1990’s line dancing, these dances are partner dances centered on smooth scooting and gliding. With Arthur Murray, you can learn the Country Western Waltz, Texas Two-Step, Country Shuffle, Country Swing, West Coast Swing, the Progressive Two-Step, and the Country Triple.
Not every dance we teach can be placed into the standard categories. Some dances defy definition, and when they do, we call them specialty dances. These dances take elements from different styles and merge them to create something unique. And because they borrow from various styles, they are excellent starting points for your journey with dance. Among the specialty dances we teach are the Nightclub Two-Step, Bachata, the Argentine Tango, and the Zouk.
Swing and Rhythm Dances
We are dedicated to offering you the best instruction, no matter what style of dance you are studying. That said, Swing and Rhythm Dances are very special to us. Arthur Murray is our namesake, and he was a leader in this dance style. We love that our lessons carry on his love for dance. Let us turn you into a Swing and Rhythm expert with dances such as the East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Hustle, and the Jive, taught right here at our Oceanside dance studio.
Reasons to Take Dance Lessons
In our opinion, you don’t need a specific reason to learn to dance. However, most of our students seek out lessons for a specific event or with a specific goal in mind. We want you to get the instruction you need, so it is important that you tell us why you are wanting to take dance lessons. We can then tailor our instruction so that you get the results you want. Below are just some of the reasons our students have turned to us in the past.
Here at Arthur Murray Oceanside Dance Studio, our lessons focus on partner dances. This means that our classes are a natural way to socialize with your friends, or to make new ones. We often have friends sign up as a group so they can enjoy each other’s company while also picking up some new skills. We also get plenty of dancers coming on their own, and if this is your case, we will help you find a partner. Our studio also hosts dance socials so you can meet others in the Camp Pendleton dance community.
A wedding reception has to have a lively dance floor, but if your wedding party and guests are wallflowers, that may be hard to accomplish. However, we offer plenty of wedding dance lessons that will help give people the confidence they need. If you want to practice for your first dance, we offer couple’s lessons. If you want your whole wedding party in on it, we offer group lessons. We have even had couples ask us to give lessons to their guests as well.
Special Events Dance
Weddings are not the only places you encounter dance floors. From reunions to bar mitzvahs to cruises and more, we can teach you the skills you need to glide across the dance floor with confidence.
Maybe you are looking to improve your skills. Or perhaps competing in a dance competition is just something you have always wanted to do. Either way, we can help. Allow us to build your confidence and perfect your technique while cheering you on the whole way.
