Where does Laguna Woods learn to dance? Arthur Murray’s Lake Forest dance studio. At our studio, we are known for our ability to help professional dancers and novices alike. We do this by taking an individualized approach, tailoring our instruction to your needs, even in group settings. We pride ourselves on the fact that we do what it takes to help each of our students feel confident on the dance floor. So if you are in Laguna Woods, stop in at our Lake Forest dance studio and discover what makes Arthur Murray Dance Studios so special.
The Arthur Murray Approach
If a dance instructor is going to help you become a talented and confident dancer, there are certain things that must be focused on. There are the things that every dance studio will emphasize: basic steps, rhythm, arm movements, etc. And then there are the things that Arthur Murray focuses on, in addition to the basics. The biggest thing we focus on? Developing the dancer in addition to teaching the dance.
How are the two separate? In truth, they aren’t, but that doesn’t mean that every studio acknowledges this. It takes a specialized approach to both teach the dance and nurture the dancer. We don’t want our students to simply memorize the steps; we want them to be confident and happy on the dance floor.
And to ensure everyone has access to the instruction they need, we offer a wide variety of classes. For each style we teach, you have the option or solo, private group, and public group lessons at four different levels: beginner, bronze, silver, and gold. Your ideal dance class is waiting for you at our Lake Forest dance studio.
Dance Styles We Teach
If Laguna Woods is home, you should turn to us to get ready for your next event or meet one of your life goals. When you study with us, you can learn whatever style most appeals to you. Or, if you aren’t sure where to start, we can help you determine which is best suited to your wants and needs. Below are the dance styles we teach at our Lake Forest dance studio.
Do you find yourself enchanted by the Golden Age of Hollywood? We certainly are, which is one reason why we love teaching Ballroom Dances. These are the dances that couples performed on the silver screen—back when it truly was a silver screen. Among these dances we teach are the Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and the Quickstep.
If you watch competitive dance, you are quite familiar with Latin Dances. These dances are true showstoppers, featuring elegance, athleticism, and passion. If you are looking for a dance class that is fun and a real workout, this is the style to study. Included amongst the Latin Dances we teach are the Bolero, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Merengue, and Salsa.
Country and Western Dances
Focused on partner dances that feature smooth gliding and scooting, Country and Western Dances are simple, elegant, and work in any setting. With Arthur Murray, you can learn the Country Western Waltz, Texas Two-Step, Country Shuffle, Country Swing, West Coast Swing, Progressive Two-Step, and the Country Triple.
Not every dance fits neatly into a specific category. When we come across a dance that defies the usual rules, we call it a Specialty Dance. Borrowing from other styles, these dances are unique and a great way to start learning other styles of dance. Among the specialty dances we teach are the Nightclub Two-Step, Bachata, the Argentine Tango, and the Zouk.
Swing and Rhythm Dances
We love all styles we teach, and we are dedicated to teaching them better than anyone else. With that said, Swing and Rhythm Dances are very special to us. Our namesake, Arthur Murray, was a pioneer in this dance style and we love that we get to carry on his legacy. Let us turn you into a Swing and Rhythm expert with dances such as the East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Hustle, and the Jive, taught right here at our Oceanside dance studio.
Reasons to Take Dance Lessons
As far as we are concerned, you don’t need a special reason to study dance. However, most of our students come to us with a specific event or goal in mind. Below are some of the more common reasons Laguna Woods dance students turn to us.
Why did humans start dancing in the first place? To socialize. And with our studio, you can enjoy social dance in many ways. Whether you are taking classes with a group of friends, using it for your date night, or looking to meet new people, we can make it happen. We also host dance socials for the community so you can get to know other dance enthusiasts in the Laguna Woods area.
Every couple wants their day to be picture perfect, but unfortunately, dance floors at weddings are, more often than not, a bit messy. While that might be fine for the guests, it isn’t for the couple or wedding party. We offer dance lessons for couples, the wedding party, and even all the guests if you so wish. We can also create a choreographed number for your wedding video.
Special Events Dance
While weddings might be the place you are most likely to encounter a dance floor, they aren’t the only place. There are also reunions, bar and bat mitzvahs, galas, balls, cruises, even work parties. We can help you learn the steps you need and ensure you feel confident on the dance floor at these events.
Maybe you are a competitive dancer who needs some feedback on how you can improve. Or maybe competing in a dance competition is an item on your bucket list. No matter your motivation, we are here to help you realize your goals. Allow us to teach you and cheer you on the entire way.
