Arthur Murray Costa Mesa Dance Studio

Ballroom Dancing in Costa Mesa, CaliforniaWhether you’re hoping to compete professionally or just want to impress your friends at the club, Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Costa Mesa is here with expert instructors at affordable rates to get you dancing like a star. Our instruction is customized to meet you at any experience level and help you reach your goals.

Dance Styles We Teach

Dance provides a special blend of entertainment and exercise and remains an admirable social skill to this day regardless of the style you choose. At Arthur Murray Studios, we teach a variety of dances from a mix of categories. We’ll take you beyond the basic steps to help you master Latin, Country Western, Standard, Swing, or Specialty dances.

Ballroom Dances

Ballroom Dancing taught at Arthur Murray Dance StudioThis family of dances characterize what some might consider “classic ballroom dancing”. They all have in common rigid upper body posture, with smooth, graceful steps. Dances in this category include the Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and the Quickstep.

Swing & Rhythm Dances

swing dance couple 2Swing stretched the country from coast to coast with its lively and fun steps that continue to be a favorite for dance students. Our swing instructors teach both East Coast and West Coast varieties of swing, and offer Jive, Lindy Hop, and Jitterbug lessons. We also teach the Hustle, a mainstay from the disco era. These fun, energetic dances provide a base in rhythm that can extend into all other dance forms, which makes it a great first step for new students. At our Costa Mesa dance studio, the focus is on fun while we help students build experience to tackle the more complicated steps of the Jitterbug, or add some flare by improvising additions in the Lindy Hop.

Country Western Dances

Go country for another fun start to dancing! Our Western dance style courses range from the Texas Two-Step or Progressive Two-step to the Country Western Waltz. The West Coast Swing, Country Swing, Country Shuffle and Country Triple further explore how ballroom dance transformed into something distinctly American out in the wild west. Our capable instructors break down the complex styles and steps into a basic foundation that leaves students feeling confident enough to explore the dance floor, or branch out to try other styles of dance.

Latin Dances

Latin dance styles rival the classics for popularity, and at Arthur Murray we’ve got them all covered: from the lesser known Paso Doble to the Merengue – a beginner’s favorite. Students can also heat things up with Cuban style steps from the Rumba, Samba, or Cha Cha, or really feel the music through the Mambo. Many of our students find the Bolero acts as a bridge between the Mambo and Rumba even while it offers its own distinct twist. Another favorite, Salsa, brings Columbia and Puerto Rico together in an adaptable, fun and fast paced dance perfect for a variety of social occasions. Any of these Latin dances is an excellent choice for students looking to stand out in their local nightclubs, or at festivals or parties.

Specialty Dances

Couple dancing the WaltzWe also teach a number of specialty dances which cannot be classified by any one style or culture. These mixed step dances combine styles from a variety of cultures and time periods, and they’ve each brought a new flavor to the world of dance. At Arthur Murray, we teach the Argentine Tango, Nightclub Two-Step, Bachata, and Zouk to passionate dance students looking to gain experience or take on a new challenge.
