Everyone can dance! Yes, even you. While many people believe that they are either born a dancer or not, we are confident that we can teach anyone to dance.
Over the years, our Santa Barbara studio has turned thousands of dance students into confident dancers. Some of these students were already great at dancing, but others had never set foot on a dance floor in their lives. No matter where you are starting from, we have the classes you need to be confident in your dance skills. And if you are in Carpinteria, our dance studio is the place for you!
The Arthur Murray Approach
We know that as a Carpinteria resident, we are not the only dance studio serving you. So why should Arthur Murray Dance Studio be the studio you turn to? While there are many reasons we believe we are the right choice for you, one of them stands out above the rest: the Arthur Murray approach.
How is our approach different from other dance studios? Most studios focus on memorizing movements, which is a start, but on its own leads to awkward, mechanical dancing. For us, the goal is not to simply teach you the steps, but to develop you as a dancer.
What does that mean? It means helping you connect to the dance in a way that it becomes a part of you. You find yourself able to dance in any environment, to any music, moving naturally and not according to some plan you have been taught.
It also means building your confidence. We want you to feel good about dance. We want you to enjoy it. After all, what is the point in dancing if it does not bring you joy?
We excel at teaching dance and developing dancers. With us, you can enjoy everything that dance has to offer. Never fear the dance floor again.
Part of what allows us to help you become the dancer you want to be is our tailored instruction. When you study with us, you get the exact class you need every single time. With our tiered structure, you can study any style of dance we teach at four different levels. The result is that there is always a class waiting for you that will challenge you without overwhelming you.
The Dance Styles We Teach
By now, you are probably wondering what dances we teach. Here at Arthur Murray Santa Barbara Dance Studio, we are very particular about the styles we teach. Our goal is not to offer every single dance possible; instead, we focus on a handful of styles so we can become experts at them and then pass that expertise on to you. Below are the styles of dance we currently offer our Carpinteria dance students.
This is a style of dance everyone knows and loves. We watched them in cartoons as children and grew up to love them in classic films. Now you can learn to dance them yourself with our Ballroom Dance lessons. Among these dances we teach are the Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and the Quickstep.
If you are interested in dance both for the fun and for the workout, Latin Dance is the way to go. This athletic style of dance will get your blood pumping while really challenging your abilities. Many students use our Latin Dance classes as a way to get fit while building their confidence. Included amongst the Latin Dances we teach are the Bolero, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Merengue, and Salsa.
Country and Western Dances
From the name, you would expect cowboy boots and line dancing. While cowboy boots are more than welcome, they are not a requirement. These dances are simple and elegant, at home in both dive bars and ballrooms. With Arthur Murray, you can learn the Country Western Waltz, Texas Two-Step, Country Shuffle, Country Swing, West Coast Swing, Progressive Two-Step, and the Country Triple.
From time to time, we come across incredible dances that we love, but they don’t completely fit into another style of dance. These are usually hybrid dances, borrowing from various styles to create something unique. Instead of ignoring these dances, we teach them as Specialty Dances. Among the specialty dances we teach are the Nightclub Two-Step, Bachata, the Argentine Tango, and the Zouk.
Swing and Rhythm Dances
You might be wondering who the Arthur Murray was. He was one of the most important innovators in the Swing and Rhythm Dance genre. He created many of the signature moves and worked to keep it alive even after its big day. We are very proud that we get to keep his hard work alive through our lessons at our Santa Barbara dance studio. Let us turn you into a Swing and Rhythm expert with dances such as the East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Hustle, and the Jive.
Reasons to Take Dance Lessons
Do you need to have a special reason to study dance with us? Not at all! However, we have helped many dancers reach a specific goal or prepare for a certain event, and if that’s what you need, we will get you ready to go! Below are just a few reasons why our Carpinteria dance students have turned to us.
Dancing is big on the weekends. And why is that? Because it is a great way to socialize! You can meet new people, have fun with those you are already close to, and just have a great time. At our studio, you can enjoy social dance in our classes or as part of our monthly dance socials.
Everyone wants to have a perfect wedding video. Thanks to awkward dancing at the reception, many couples find themselves cringing when they watch their first dance. But you won’t be one of those couples. Instead, you will be prepared for your big day, thanks to our classes. We can even teach the entire wedding party or choreograph a special number for all the guests.
Special Events Dance
Weddings are not the only event where dancing is expected. If you have a reunion coming up, a cruise you are planning, or even a party for work, dancing is likely going to be part of it. We can get you ready to impress rather than stress yourself out over your next event.
Are you looking to enter a dance competition? Whether it is your very first or you have lost count, we can help you get ready to make a great impression with the judges and audience alike. Allow us to get you competition ready; we will cheer you on the whole way.
