Unique Dance-O-Rama is outdoing itself once again! With 68 studios in attendance and a record breaking 17,000 entries it will most certainly be the biggest competition in the world!
For the first time ever, the Unique DOR schedule has added an extra day as well as an exciting early arrival evening, giving it a whole new make-over. So, what’s new this year?
The weekend kicks off with a dinner and dance at Disney California Adventure. Guests will dine in theme with Disney’s Frozen and then finish off the night with VIP tickets to the World of Color water spectacular.
The next notable addition is on Thursday’s agenda with the NEW Club 3 Dance Events! Students can compete in a Swing, Latin, and/or Country Club 3 Dance competition.
East Coast Swing
West Coast Swing
With no open choreography allowed, the winners are determined strictly by who has the best social style, or club style rather, in each category. With some 50 couples entered in multiple categories, it’s sure to be a mind-blowing event.
Thursday’s excitement continues in the evening with the Little Bit Country Little Bit Rock and Roll Dinner Show. With new and creative routines every year, Unique DOR is the only Dance-O-Rama that has an evening specifically dedicated to Theatrical Solo routines making it, well, unique.
One of the special features of Friday night at Unique DOR is it’s themed dinner and professional show. This year’s party is themed It’s A Small World and will feature cultural dances from several different countries. It’s a show you won’t want to miss and rumor is, Christy Melgoza is the headliner!
(Christy Melgoza is the franchisee of the Woodland Hills and Thousand Oaks studios, a former top competitor, and a traveling coach for Arthur Murray.)
After the scholarship competitions come to a conclusion, the Pros will wrap up the night with the Bachata and International Waltz One Dance Competitions.
The most enchanting night Unique has to offer is of course the Saturday evening gala. An Arthur Murray event at its finest, this black tie evening is fit for kings, queens, and Presidents alike. Including professional draping, lighting, large centerpieces, and more, Steve and Georgetta Platt stop at nothing to create a spectacular night. The dessert is even Arthur Murray themed! This is often the most well attended dinner because of the highly anticipated Professional Smooth and Rhythm competitions. There are often more than 30 couples in each division, from all over the country, competing for a chance at the Unique DOR title. It’s like Dancing With the Stars, but live, right in front of your own eyes!
Whether you are attending the whole weekend or just a dinner, Unique Dance-O-Rama will be an unforgettable experience that is truly Unique!
