Rancho Santa Fe
No matter who you are, no matter what your level of experience, you can dance. Now, we know that some of you are sitting there thinking no way, you have two left feet and are better off as a wallflower. But the team at Arthur Murray Solana Beach Dance Studio is confident that you too can learn how to dance. And if you are an experienced dancer, we can help you as well. Our instructors are excellent at helping professional dancers perfect their skills and up their showmanship. So, if you are in Rancho Santa Fe and you need a little help—or a lot of help—our Solana Beach dance studio is here for you.
The Arthur Murray Approach
There are numerous dance studios in and around Rancho Santa Fe. So if you have endless options, why should you choose us? Because we are the only studio serving Rancho Santa Fe that offers the Arthur Murray approach.
Your typical dance studio teaches dance movements, allowing students to perform the dances based off of simple memorization and counting the beats. But doing this only addresses teaching the dance, not developing the dancer. And while they are connected, these are two different things.
In addition to the steps, rhythm, and arm movements, we focus on building your confidence, helping you enjoy the moment, and facilitating your ability to connect with dance. We want you to move beyond memorizing movements so you can actually feel the joy of dance. After all, why dance unless you enjoy it?
What allows us to help each dancer discover his or her love of dance is that we take an individualized approach to our instruction. And this isn’t limited to our one-on-one classes; even in group lessons, our instructors ensure that each dancer gets what he or she needs from the class.
We can do this because we offer a comprehensive selection of classes. Each dance style we teach is offered at four levels, making it easy to find the class that challenges you without frustrating you. Your ideal class is waiting for you at our Solana Beach dance studio.
The Dance Styles We Teach
At our Solana Beach dance studio, we do not teach hundreds of dance styles. Instead, we focus on just a few styles of dance, ensuring that we only teach what we know best. Below are the dance styles we offer our Rancho Santa Fe dance students.
When we think of partner dances, Ballroom Dances are usually what come to mind. These dances are simple, yet elegant, and learning them will make you feel glamorous. You can use these dances in almost any situation, allowing you feel confident and impress at your next event. Among these dances we teach are the Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and the Quickstep.
Fun, fast, and a great workout—it’s no wonder Latin Dance is so popular. Our students adore studying this style of dance, and we adore teaching it. Now, if you are interested in it, don’t be intimidated by professional dancers you see on TV; our instructors know how to adapt their lessons so you will find it accessible, not overwhelming. Included amongst the Latin Dances we teach are the Bolero, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Merengue, and Salsa.
Country and Western Dances
Don’t own a giant belt buckle? No problem! Country and Western Dances are great for wearing your western gear, but it isn’t a requirement. Now, if you are picturing line dancing, rest assured that line dancing is not what these dances are. Rather, they are elegant partner dances that focus on simple scooting and gliding and they work in most any atmosphere. With Arthur Murray, you can learn the Country Western Waltz, Texas Two-Step, Country Shuffle, Country Swing, West Coast Swing, the Progressive Two-Step, and the Country Triple.
Not every dance is easily defined or fits into a neat category. Dances, much like the people who create them, are unique. When we come across a dance that doesn’t quite fit in the other categories, we call it a Specialty Dance. These dances blend elements from other styles to create fun dances that are sure to get you moving. Among the specialty dances we teach are the Nightclub Two-Step, Bachata, the Argentine Tango, and the Zouk.
Swing and Rhythm Dances
Arthur Murray was the king of swing, and as such, we are honored to teach this style of dance. If you are looking for a fun way to let loose, this style of dance is for you. Let us turn you into a Swing and Rhythm expert with dances such as the East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Hustle, and the Jive, taught right here at our Solana Beach dance studio.
Reasons to Take Dance Lessons
For the team at our Solana Beach dance studio, dance is more than just our job—it is our passion. It gives meaning to our lives. As such, we don’t think you have to have a special reason to learn how to dance. However, many students turn to us for specific reasons. Below are just a few reasons why our Rancho Santa Fe dance students come to us.
Long before there were stages for performers to dance on, dance was used as a way for people to socialize. And while dance is now seen more as an art than a way to get to know people, we still keep this tradition alive. Take classes with friends, come alone and meet someone new, or attend our dance socials so you can get to know others in the Rancho Santa Fe dance community.
Reception dance floors are a great place to see some awkward dancing, but it doesn’t have to be that way at your wedding. We offer dance lessons for the couple, the wedding party, and even all the guests. If you want, we will choreograph a special number just for you. Allow us to help you make your special day all that it can be.
Special Events Dance
Weddings are big for dancing, but there are other special events where your presence on the dance floor is expected. From galas to cruises to your company holiday party, we can help you make the most of the event. Allow us to help you shed your worries and dance with confidence.
Whether you have been dancing since you could walk or are just now considering the possibility, we can help you gear up for your next (or first) competition. We offer instruction that teaches the basics as well as simple guidance to help professionals become their very best. Allow us to help you leave the judges and audience in awe.
