Anyone can dance, which is something we firmly believe at Arthur Murray Solana Beach Dance Studio. Whether you are a beginner or are a professional dancer, we can help you build your confidence, hone your skills, and make the most of your time on the dance floor. Whatever your abilities, whatever your interests, whatever your reason for studying dance, we are here to help. If you are in Encinitas and want to improve as a dancer, Arthur Murray is the studio for you.
The Arthur Murray Approach
Our Solana Beach dance studio isn’t the only studio Encinitas residents can choose. So if there are so many options, why do we think we are the one you should choose? Because only we can offer you the Arthur Murray approach.
Most dance studios are able to teach dance moves fairly well, but the dance and the movements are only half the story. The other half of the story is the dancer. Now, you might think that teaching dance is teaching the dancer, but we feel that they are two distinct, but connected, elements of dance.
In addition to focusing on steps, rhythm, and arm movements, we also focus on confidence, enjoying the moment, and really connecting with dance. Our goal is to move beyond memorizing movements and help you discover the joy that dance can bring. After all, there is little reason to dance unless it brings you joy.
Part of what allows us to help each dancer discover their love of dance is that we offer an individualized approach to dance instruction. Even within our group lessons, we make sure each student gets precisely what they need. We offer a comprehensive selection of classes, making it easy to get that tailored-for-you fit. With us, you will never be bored with easy lessons or frustrated by lessons that are too hard. You learn the dances that interest you at the level most accessible to you.
The Dance Styles We Teach
Here at Arthur Murray Solana Beach Dance Studio, we do not teach every style of dance possible, but rather provide better instruction by finding what we do best and sticking with it. Where we truly shine are partner dances in a few, select styles. Below are the dance styles we currently teach to our Encinitas dance students.
Featured in old, Hollywood films, Disney cartoons, and more, Ballroom Dances transform you and transport you into another era. Lovely, reserved, and glamorous, these dances work in many situations and will make you feel confident on the dance floor. Among these dances we teach are the Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and the Quickstep.
Latin dance is fun, fast, and athletic. As such, our students love to learn it and we love to teach it. This passionate style of dance is also a great workout, so you can get fit while learning how to dance. And don’t be intimidated by the theatrics of professional dancers if you aren’t at that level just yet—we will adapt our instruction to meet your abilities. Included amongst the Latin Dances we teach are the Bolero, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Merengue, and Salsa.
Country and Western Dances
No cowboy boots? No problem! Country and Western Dances aren’t just for the honky tonk. Yes, the name brings to mind 90s line dancing, but the dances we teach are anything but. This style of dance is incredibly elegant, centered around simple scooting and gliding that is at home in any atmosphere. From your local dive bar to the dance floor at your next gala, you can use these moves anywhere. With Arthur Murray, you can learn the Country Western Waltz, Texas Two-Step, Country Shuffle, Country Swing, West Coast Swing, the Progressive Two-Step, and the Country Triple.
Dances are as unique as the people who create them, and much like people, they aren’t always easy to define. The dances that defy categorization are what we call Specialty Dances. These dances are created by combining elements from different dances and dance styles, coming up with a fusion that is original and fun to learn. Among the specialty dances we teach are the Nightclub Two-Step, Bachata, the Argentine Tango, and the Zouk.
Swing and Rhythm Dances
You might be wondering who Arthur Murray is, considering our studio is named after him. Well, our namesake was one of the most influential dancers and choreographers working with Swing and Rhythm Dances. And as we want to keep his legacy alive, we take great pride in teaching his signature style of dance. Let us turn you into a Swing and Rhythm expert with dances such as the East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Hustle, and the Jive, taught right here at our Solana Beach dance studio.
Reasons to Take Dance Lessons
Dance is our life, so for us, the love of dance is reason enough. However, many of our students turn to us for a specific reason. Below are some of the more common reasons Encinitas dance students turn to us.
Long before dance was used as entertainment, it was used as a way to socialize. And even in our modern world, it is a great way to meet new people and connect better with friends. Many people take our classes as a way to expand their social circle or grow closer with those they already know and love. We also host dance socials so you can become better acquainted with those outside of your classes.
How many weddings have you attended where the atmosphere was thrown off by awkward dancing? Chances are most of the weddings you have attended qualify. We offer dance lessons to ensure that your special day is picture perfect. You can study dance as a couple, as a wedding party, or even get all the guests in on the action.
Special Events Dance
Yes, weddings are the biggest event for dancing, but they aren’t the only events where dancing is expected. There are galas, Bar Mitzvahs, and even company holiday parties. If you want to enjoy your next event, we can help you learn a few moves.
Maybe you have been competing since you were just a child. Or perhaps you are looking to give it a go and try something new. No matter what, we offer the instruction that will have you wowing crowds and judges alike.
