No matter your skill level or reason for studying dance, our Oceanside dance studio can help you improve and build your confidence. We work with professional dancers, complete dance novices, and everything in between. From group lessons to studying one-on-one, we do it all. If you want to learn how to dance and have fun while doing it, turn to Arthur Murray!
The Arthur Murray Approach
Our Oceanside studio is far from the only one serving the Vista community. So if there are plenty of Vista dance studios to choose from, why should you choose us? Because only we offer the Arthur Murray approach.
What is the Arthur Murray approach? It combines two elements: teaching the dances and building the dancers. To some, these two things might sound the same, but the truth is that if all you do is focus on steps and rhythm, you aren’t focusing on the person. But at our Oceanside dance studio, we do.
We want you to learn those steps, but we also want you to build your confidence. We want you to become a skilled dancer, but we also want you to find joy in dance. Our goal is for you love dance as much as we do.
We are able to give each dancer what they need because we take an individualized approach, even within our group lessons. Our comprehensive selection of classes ensures that everyone can get exactly what they want and what they need. You will never find yourself becoming bored with lessons that are too easy or frustrated with lessons that are too hard. Here, we allow Vista dance students to learn the dances they want to learn at a level that is challenging without being overwhelming. We offer beginner, bronze, silver, and gold levels for all of the dance styles we teach, as well as individual classes that are tailored 100% to you.
The Dance Styles We Teach
Here at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, we do not teach every style of dance. We believe in finding what we do best and sticking to it, which allows us to deliver superior dance instruction to Vista residents. If you know what style of dance you want to learn, let us know. Also, if you aren’t sure which is best for your event or goals, we can help. Below are the dance styles we currently teach to our Vista dance students.
If you have ever spent an evening curled up on your couch while watching Golden Age films, you have seen Smooth and Standard dances. These dances are lovely, elegant, and always impress at weddings and other events. If you have ever wished you could bask in that glamor yourself, all you need to do is study Ballroom with us. Among these dances we teach are the Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and the Quickstep.
Our students love to study Latin Dance, and we love to teach it. This style of dance is passionate, beautiful, and very physical—which means it is a great workout. While it can look intimidating when you watch it performed, our instructors are very adept at making it accessible to dancers of all levels. Included amongst the Latin Dances we teach are the Bolero, Rumba, Mambo, Cha-cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Merengue, and Salsa.
Country and Western Dances
Country and Western Dances are for everybody, so even if you don’t own a single pair of cowboy boots, you can still enjoy learning this style of dance. The name of this dance style tends to make people picture line dancing and Wrangler jeans, but the truth is that it is a rather elegant style of dance. The simple scooting and gliding is ideal for most any setting, whether you are slow dancing at your local bar or taking your turn around the dance floor at a ball. With Arthur Murray, you can learn the Country Western Waltz, Texas Two-Step, Country Shuffle, Country Swing, West Coast Swing, the Progressive Two-Step, and the Country Triple.
Much like people, many dances don’t fit neatly into a box. When we come across these dances that don’t quite fit with a specific style, we call them Specialty Dances. These dances borrow elements from various styles, create fusion dances that are fun and help you branch out into other styles. Among the specialty dances we teach are the Nightclub Two-Step, Bachata, the Argentine Tango, and the Zouk.
Swing and Rhythm Dances
Who was Arthur Murray? He was one of the most influential dancers and choreographers specializing in Swing and Rhythm Dances. He is our namesake and we take great pride in continuing his work. Let us turn you into a Swing and Rhythm expert with dances such as the East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Hustle, and the Jive, taught right here at our Oceanside dance studio.
Reasons to Take Dance Lessons
We love dance so much, we have made it our life’s work. And that means that we don’t think you need any particular reason to study dance—dance itself is reason enough. But many people do come to use with a specific event or goal in mind. If this is the case for you, let us know so we can tailor our instruction to meet your needs. Below are some of the common reasons Vista dance students turn to us.
Dance is a great way to meet new people or get to know the people you love even better. We have dancers come to us solo and make great friends during their lessons. We also have groups of friends that ask for classes just for them. We also host dance socials that allow you to get to know others in the Vista dance community. So if you are looking into dance for socializing, our dance studio is the place to be.
Every couple wants their big day to be perfect, and awkward dancing can ruin that. We offer classes for the couple, the wedding party, and even all of the guests. We have also created special, choreographed numbers in the past, allowing couples to have a wedding video that will always make them smile. Whatever you need, we can help.
Special Events Dance
Hey, weddings aren’t the only events where people dance. You also have galas, Christmas parties, Bar Mitzvahs, and even cruises. If you are wanting to break away from being a wallflower at your next event, allow us to help.
Whether you have been competing for years or you are wanting to gear up for your very first competition, we can help. No matter your level of experience, we can help you impress the judges and wow the crowds. You will be amazed by how much you improve with us.
